Fish Oil Prevents Wrinkles

I found this study from 2005 in the Journal of Lipid Research that studied the preventative effects of fish oil for UV-damage to the skin. UV rays from the sun are one of the main culprits in producing wrinkles.

The researchers applied EPA, one of the omega-3 fatty acids in fish oils, to human skin cells. They then applied UV radiation to the skin cells to simulate the effects of sun exposure, which results in wrinkles and sagging of the skin.

They concluded from the study that fish oil is “a potential agent for the prevention and treatment of skin aging.”
