Fish Oil Shows Promise for Type II Diabetes and Bodybuilders!
A recent fish oil study out of Texas A&M found that fish oil improved the ability of muscle cells to take up glucose, or blood sugar, in the presence of insulin. This is good news for those with Type II Diabetes because Type II Diabetes is a condition where cells resist insulin and therefore are unable to take up glucose. Furthermore, fish oil was shown to “improve cell viability, a measure of cellular metabolic activity.”
What effect would this have for strength training and bodybuilding? I obviously can’t say for sure, but it seems to me like getting nutrients to muscles more rapidly would enable those cells to function better, thus enabling you to lift more weight and recover more rapidly. Any thoughts?

Growing up, my father fed us scrambled tuna (concoction of eggs, tuna, onion, seasonings) and grits virtually every morning before school. He was a BIG believer in a hot breakfast (no cold cereal for us) on school mornings and insisted that fish was brain food. I always thought that he was just saying that stuff to keep us from complaining. Turns out he was actually right and I STILL love tuna ’til this day.
yea nice Work
I would also be very interested to hear any comments relating to what effect there is for strength training and bodybuilding? It also seems that getting the nutrients to muscles more rapidly would enable those cells to function better however if there is further information out there it would also be great if it was shared around to get a better understanding on this aspect of Omega 3 positives or negatives.
Cheers
