Treat Breast Cancer with Fish Oil?

Researchers have discovered that fish oil prevents breast cancer from spreading and causes some cancer sells to commit suicide when combined with propofol, an anaesthetic:

Not only did they block cell migration and the ability to adhere to potential new tumour sites, they also triggered some cells to commit suicide.

Neither worked by themselves, but together, they were a powerful combination:

It is thought the fatty acids help to increase the absorption of propofol by the cancer cells.

Lead researcher Professor Rafat Siddiqui said it might eventually be possible to develop a patch or ointment containing the combination drug.

This is very promising research that will hopefully lead to more treatment options for those with breast cancer!
